The congenital essence is stored in the kidney and the kidney governs reproduction, hence infertility is closely related with the kidney as well as the dysfunction of the kidney qi – Tiankui – thoroughfare and conception meridians – uterine axis. Semen Cuscutae, Fructus Lycii and Fructus Schisandrae supplement the kidney and secure the essence[3]; Ramulus Taxilli and Radix Dipsaci Asperoidis supplement the kidney and support the foetus; Radix Codonopsis Pilosulae, Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, Radix Glycyrrhizae, Colla Corii Asini, Radix Angelicae Sinensis and Radix Paeoniae Alba supplement the qi and blood.
